This series began with photos taken while shooting a film about J’ouvert, the little known celebration that kicks off Brooklyn’s Carnival festivities at 3 in the morning with an outpouring of percussion music, costumes, dance, and history. Since finishing the film I have continued to return to the yearly celebration.
